    Zesty-Life-Recipes-protein-nut-bite-bars-for-athletes-pumpkin-seeds-Squamish

    Cashew at the finish line!

Okay, so cashews aren’t actually nuts, but that was kinda funny right? …*crickets*

Nuts are nutritional powerhouses loaded with good fat, protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals to keep you fueled. These Mighty Bites are a recipe of concentrated energy that deliver around 160 to 200 calories per small handful, making them a perfect on-the-go snack. Just remember, because nuts are healthy doesn’t mean you can eat as many as you want. Not all nuts are created equal either. You should be buying raw, organic, un-salted nuts.  Continue Reading…

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee

I picked up some in-season stinging nettles from Nutrient Dense Farm at the Squamish farmer’s market this weekend! Although you may cringe at the memory of a sting from this little bugger, nettle is actually a very nutrient-dense food and a remedy for many medical conditions including allergies and arthritis. Nettle tastes much like spinach when cooked, and it’s a fantastic substitute to try in things like pasta, pesto, soups, smoothies, pizza and gomae.

Nettle is esteemed as a famous longevity herb in chinese medicine, containing high levels of protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, zinc, calcium, potassium, beta-carotene and chromium — all important nutrients for muscle growth and health. Continue Reading…

A tasty recipe is what I got

Early in the morning, risin’ to the street. Light me up that Santa Cruz and I strap shoes on my feet. I got a labrador, and I can still get by. Life’s too short, so love the one you got’, cause you might get run over or you might get shot. Take a small example, take a tip from me, take all of your money, give it all to charity. Lime is what I got, I said remember that lime’, is what I got, now remember that.
