Ripple Effect: The Enduring Impact of a Single Moment
The landscape leads me through a picturesque scene, amidst the towering mountains, lush rainforest and rushing river gently nudged against moss covered trees; I begin walking home from a morning of flyfishing.
I got into a couple of nice trout, but the thrill of the tug, the electrifying zing that usually sent a rush of excitement through me, wasn’t quite the same today. Instead, there was a noticeable sense of loneliness that hung in the air, a familiar feeling most potent not in solitude, but in the impenetrable space between you and other. Continue Reading…
Therein Lies the Magic
As I venture along the rivers edge with Kula, we make our way up and over fallen logs, through thick bushes and branches, and wade through the shallows. We are searching for a good spot to cast the line.

I consider how trees stand lonesome, yet with strength and confidence; and silent fortitude as they endure the storms and the heavy blows. Continue Reading…
Who Cares! Just ride your bike!
Rolling up to the trailhead, do you jump on your bike and set off for a fun-filled adventure. Or, do you look around and notice that there are no orange bikes in the parking lot, become very offended and conclude that there must be a problem with people boycotting orange bikes.
If you are looking for problems, you find problems. Continue Reading…
