Fear of Judgment: Are all eyes really on you?

Judgment day

Venturing into the crowd, we’re often worried that everyone’s judging us; our bad hair day, the turmeric stain on our shorts, or our novice mountain bike abilities. In reality, nobody notices any of that shit because they’re too busy hyper-focusing on their own issues.

Reputation is what you will get reduced to when you aren’t illuminated by loving-kindness. And like a gossamer thread, reputation can be severed through one bad instance of telephone or third hand gossip. But how much should we really consider what others think of us? The reality is that in most cases people are actually not thinking… Continue Reading…

Friends Forever: How to have a Pooh Piglet relationship

Pooh’s Zesty Wisdom

Lately I’ve been revisiting the old classic Winnie-the-Pooh—a beloved and well-worn book that’s been gracing many children’s bedrooms for decades, and I’ve realized that no matter what age you are, the tales from Hundred-Acre Wood are truly evergreen.

Filled with nugget after nugget of zesty wisdom, Pooh inspires us with his philosophical musings and his mindful way of life. Pooh and Piglet teach us so much about what friendship is and how it’s expressed. Even through the most blustery of days, the answers are there on how to always walk beside each other… Continue Reading…

All Roads Lead to Love

I don’t care where we go as long as you’re riding shotgun

The best part of the road trip isn’t the destination, it’s the wild shit that happens along the way.

The ribbon of asphalt curved between the mountains and Howe Sound, framed by vibrant light and shadow of the late afternoon sun. A satisfying growl came from my car, as I pressed my foot deeper into the gas and locked into my favourite corner. In this moment of total presence, I felt very happy. Continue Reading…

The Healing Power of Hugs

Healing touch

Sometimes all I need is a hug. I can’t describe why, but I know it’s important…

Nothing warms the heart like a loving hug. The power of touch has long been used in healing, and I believe it’s because when we hug, our hearts connect and we know that we’re not separate beings. In the warmth of a hug, words are unnecessary and logic is irrelevant — you simply feel the affection, joy, forgiveness, peace, and happiness. You feel cared about and that there’s someone who’s there for you, without judgments.

The Strength of Tribe

Your vibe attracts your tribe

Jetting off for my first women’s waterski week in Florida, I was excited, but not sure what to expect. We would be five ladies, staying together in a house for five days—eeek, this could be estrofest drama! I only knew one of them, my friend and World Champion Waterskier, Whitney McClintock Rini, who had asked me to come down to ski, and do the plant-based cooking for the week. Continue Reading…

Volunteering: The Cure for a Long Face

Namasneigh

Arriving at Second Chance Cheekye Ranch, Sarah and I toss our phones in the truck and I set off down the long dirt road to the barn. We’ve both had a rough week, and are ready to do some “meditative shit shoveling” as I call it.

Arriving at the first paddock, we are greeted by a few horses poking their heads over the fence. For having such long faces, I’m always surprised how these animals are so sweet and gentle. Being from a rescue ranch, many of these horses have experienced a variety of trauma; from neglect and abuse, to rejection for being old, lame or injured. Continue Reading…

The Ideal Life: Going once, Going twice

You have one chance before it’s gone

Given the chance to buy an ideal life on eBay, many people would probably choose the one containing money & success. Yet, as studies have revealed, these two factors have little effect on true happiness and satisfaction in life.

So, what really matters at the end? In one of the most comprehensive longitudinal studies ever done, researchers of the Harvard Grant Study followed 724 men for over 75 years and have found the secret… Continue Reading…
