I recently moved to Squamish BC, “The Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada”. Sounds pretty SA-weet eh! I came here for a change and to refresh my spirits, and I’m so glad I did. It’s truly an restorative and unique place.

However, breaking free of what’s comfortable is an ongoing, step-by-step journey. It’s not always easy and you have to consciously keep embracing expansion.

No zest for the wicked: How cycling taught me perseverance

My heart is racing, legs are burning, I’m sweating and suffering. I’ve eaten my last gel, ran out of water and the rider I was chasing has long since vanished into the distance.

At this point it crosses my mind to quit, head to the cafe’ and kick back with an Americano. I think I’ve gone as hard as I could… but the truth is 99% of the time you can always go harder and push further. It comes down to mindset.

The two biggest objections I here when I talk to people about living the Zesty Life, and enjoying your passions, “I don’t have time.” or “I don’t know what my passion is”. Both of those statements are b.s.

When you evaluate exactly how you spend your average week, I assure you that you can carve out at least two to four hours to spend for yourself. And what is your passion: it’s what you’re talking about, the topic or activity or idea that dominates a significant amount of your thoughts and time. It’s what floats around in your subconcious without pursuing it or looking for it.
